Looking for fossils in the Collinsville OK area and found this. At first I was thinking something like an armadillo scute but now am not so sure. Could it be a piece of some type of fish crush plate? I believe the area is part of the Oologah formation.

I’ll try to get better pictures but did find some crinoids in the area as well. Thank you for the response/

A little iPhoney tweak but better images would help.

Grabbed some better light. Let’s see if these help any.

I thought the one side was concave from the other photos so I'll retract my guess of crinoid base but your find does not show us a lot of features for a good identification. If it were from a later time I might have guessed shark or other fish vertebra but in my limited experience that's not a common fossil from the carboniferous. Maybe some other collectors have found some for comparison.

Ah, I see, a good call I think. I was looking at the central area as convex!

It was rather tricky to tell with the first photos. :)
