snakebite6769
Okay, so I had some free time while I was working in the mid Atlantic States so I decided to sneak in a quick collecting trip to Virginia. I’m hoping someone can tell me what type of Trilo this is before I prep it out. It’s my winter project i also have a question on ID for another Trilo imprint I found earlier this summer but haven’t had a chance to post it. This one is from New York, it was a random road cut that I stopped at to have some lunch and happened to notince these in the rocks....of course I brought them home! Pictures to follow These are the two pieces from New York
Fossildude19
Rob, Any specifics as to where in New York, and in Virginia these were found? @piranha Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." piranha
We need additional prep and a locality for the trilobite from Virginia. The New York pygidium matches well with: Odontochile micrurus figure from: Whiteley, T.E., Kloc, G.J., & Brett, C.E. (2002) The Trilobites of New York. snakebite6769
Tim, I can’t give the specific location in New York only because im the only person with access to the location. It is near Lang’s quarry, that much I can say because I found it looking for spots to find Eurypterids. The Virginia one is from hardy county West Virginia

snakebite6769
Your welcome, under the West Virginia one, the rock split during transport. This might give a better guess as to what this Trilo is....
piranha
Excellent, that solves this mystery. This trilobite is from the Needmore Formation: Coronura aspectans illustrations from: Burns, J. (1999) Trilobites: Common Trilobites of North America. Nature Guide Books, Miller's Fossils Inc. 90 pp. Burns, J. (1991) Fossil collecting in the Mid-Atlantic states with localities, collecting tips, and illustrations of more than 450 fossil specimens. snakebite6769
that was what I was hoping it was, thank you for the clarification. This is a new one for my collection just like the above one from New York. 9 minutes ago, piranha said: Excellent, that solves this mystery.
