Where was this found?

What is the size of the item?

 

This doesn't look like a fossil to me, and it's definitely not a conodont.

It looks geologic in nature, rather than biologic.

Unfortunately, I don't think that is any more correct than conodont.  I believe the suggestion several years ago of small iron concretions in sandstone is more likely accurate.  Any indication on the other side of what you think you are seeing?
