Crazyhen
Hi, this is said to be a fossil of Lioxiornis delicatus from Liaoning, China. Any idea if it is a genuine or fake one?
Troodon
From 10,000 feet it looks real but excellent fake Chinese birds are being sold and these photos are not adequate to determine authenticity. Paleontologists have even been fooled. So unless you can get an expert to carefully examine this specimen, in person, I would be very cautious of it.
doushantuo
This looks kinda like the holotype,so in my book it's suspect. The sternum of Liaxinornis is different from other enanthiornithes, looking rather like a giant conodont platform element.
Crazyhen
I know bird fossil is quite rare, but when I looked at the bones of this fossil, they look like quite real to me. How could we tell if this is fake or not?
piranha
From the photos it appears to be authentic, but I would recommend careful scrutiny with UV light. This specimen does not have the same pose as the holotype. figure of holotype IVPP V130723 from: Hou, L., & Chen, P. (1999) Liaoxiornis delicatus gen. et sp. nov., the smallest Mesozoic bird.
