I found this odd greenish piece a couple of weeks ago while walking down the North Sulphur River near Ladonia TX. DSC_2478.thumb.jpg.62957b8d233c8039b4147d4467e575ea.jpgDSC_2477.thumb.jpg.6a11e09bc2a04b61c297815802ed8412.jpg

Size is a couple of inches across the widest section and 3-4 inches tall.

You have a phosphastic rock possibly a replaced fossil or steinkern. The curved tubes are either burrow trace fossils or exterior molds of a polychete worm tubes.

  • I found this Informative 2

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

Thank you! I was leaning towards it being some sort of steinkern but couldn't for the life of me figure out what it would be. I have a much smaller crab claw steinkern found around Grapevine Lake, but that one is much more obvious once it was pointed out.
