Storage and Shipping

Has anyone seen these? I thought they were pretty cool, good way to store stuff and/or safety ship fragile pieces. They are soft double sided clear plastic membranes with a ridged frame. They pop open like a clam shell and come with a variety of feet for standing, stacking, displaying & locking them together or apart. They can hold heavy and spikey just as nice as the danty fragile.Pretty neat if ya ask me.

They are half price if you by in bulk. They come in 2 in. by 1.5 in. up to 7.1 in. by 6.15 in.

Not sure if posting a link to their site is kosher,so pm me and I will share Web info.

I really like those frames and I use them for some of my fossils, here are a couple pics that I use for some fossil cones that I have. 1 of the cones, is about 4" long and ir works very well.

I think they're better for display than for shipping. The plastic membrane wouldn't provide much support if the object was thicker than the frame or hit another object at an angle. When I buy my trilobites from foreign suppliers, they're normally shipped in plastic tubs instead. Keeps all the spiny pygidia and eyestalks intact :)

Nevertheless, these look great! I'll have to look into getting some for my no-matrix trilobites...

Regards, Jason

"Trilobites survived for a total of three hundred million years, almost the whole duration of the Palaeozoic era: who are we johnny-come-latelies to label them as either ‘primitive’ or ‘unsuccessful’? Men have so far survived half a per cent as long."  - Richard Fortey, Trilobite: Eyewitness to Evolution.

@Douvilleiceras yes I understand what you're saying about the delicate thin protruding thingies on trilobites. My point on shipping is the 'no sliding and bumping' around inside the box. They would most definitely stretch to fit but would need secure cushioning under the dainty bits. But once something is in the frame it ain't shaking lose (I tried to and the rock stayed put no matter how hard I shook and banged it)

I must admit,I was so impressed I bought two sizes (med & lg) in ten packs. As long as you buy them in rows of ten = one whole package they are half price. But if you just want a few of each they are full price.

The shipping suggestion was just because of how well they secure things from sliding and just my own opinion. They are marketed mainly as displays.

Those are so neat! Can you pm me the site? I have quite a bit that I would like to be able to see both sides displayed.

These are very inexpensive on ebay... they work really well for amber, because light shines through easily and you can see both sides.

Adam, these are really great display frames. My wife bought me I believe, 9 frames of 3 different sizes for $18 including shipping, from some site on the internet. When I get home tonight, I will post an example of the frames and the fossils that I put inside.

They are really cool in design. I may have to get a couple too, great to display fossil that do not stand very well.

 Cheers bobby

I think they are great and recently bought a bunch.   Lots of different sizes to select from.  There are several sellers on eBay from China that have pretty reasonable prices compared to online dealers with decent deliveries of 2-3 weeks.

Those are cool display thingies, but I can't help but wonder how long the plastic sheets lasts.  Will they degrade in UV light?

Good question. So far I have not had any problem with the membrane sheets on my cases. The longest that I have had any of these cases is one year, and so far no problem- I hope it stays that way.

Thank you, Ralph, they do indeed look most impressive. :)

I'll have a little peek at the interweb, methinks.
