MOGARDE
Hello, I found this on a sandbar that usually can not be accessed but the water level was really low. I was along the Missouri River near St Louis, MO. It looks like a bone and seems really old. Maybe an antler tine but it is kind of flat. Any suggestions on what it might be? Harry Pristis
I'd say it is bone, possibly antler. That's based on the trabecular (cancellous) bone exposed. Beyond that, I cannot say. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
coled18
It looks like an antler. If it is, it could be from a moose that tumbled in from out of state; the Missouri River goes pretty far up northwest into the southern range of wild moose.
