bayoubengal
I found these near Woodville MS, which is near the tunica hills region. Two of the fossils appear to be pretty common around here and I suspect they are marine fossils (a crinoid, perhaps?). If anyone recognizes them I'd love to know precisely what they are. The remaining fossil is more perplexing. I've found lots of coral in the area but nothing that looks quite like this. It reminds me of the pulp of a fern tree or something but I'm wondering if it's not just a different species of coral. Thanks for your help! Fossildude19
I agree - the second one is a well polished/water worn Rugose or "horn" coral. The third items are imprints from a few disarticulated pieces of crinoid stems, (individual rings are called columnals.) Your first item could be a worm tube colony, coral, or bryozoan, although I can't make out any details that point to the last two suggestions. Has none of the characteristics of palm. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Lone wolf
The first is palm wood. I live in Louisiana and palm wood is relatively abundant , I grabbed a couple of pieces that I thought looked close to yours .
