Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

That's a fantastic specimen! Has there been any paper describing it?

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

Q. Where do dinosaurs study?

A. At Khaan Academy!...

The prep work is still underway on the skull and they are still looking to discover how much more of the dinosaur is in the ground.

Left Dentary has been found in some matrix near the skull.   This is very good news for the museum

Notice the texture on the Maxillary, very unusual and will need to be studied

Back of the Tufts-Love BurkeTrex skull.  Hand is pointing to where the quadrate bone should be, but it isn't in this block. With luck it will be in another jacket

The process of casting some of the prepped bones has begun:

Here is the Dentary (Jaw)

Flashforge Creater Pro needs to cut a T. rex dentary into 18 pieces to print the entire jaw, lifesize

About 176 Hours of printing is needed.  The first two are shown below.

That is absolutely amazing. I can’t even fathom what I would do if I came across this on a dig. If I didn’t die from cardiac arrest, I would be the happiest guy in the world!

Do you think there will still be bones at the quarry in 2019?

Very possible and they are heading out this summer to do more excavation.   Looks like they found a rib and humerus which is  promising.

That's cool.. Is the Tufts-Love Rex excavation open to volunteers? Cause I might be in Montana in summer 2019.

No idea you need to contact the museum.

Could the texture on the maxila be pathological? That would be the first place my mind would go.

Yes believe it is and I'm sure it will get attention.

Wow! This whole thread is awesome.  That would be the coolest thing to find.  The skull look huge.  Love the way it is coming out of the matrix.  The 3D printing is cool the way it has come together. Thanks for posting this and keeping up on the updates.  Hope they find more.

Sorry, i need to be more precise: i am curious in knowing how the story is going on: did they find more of the skeleton, how far is the skull prep and so on...

Amazing and great thread !
