Al Tahan
Interesting story but I’ll get to the meat. My best “deal” would be the 2 box flats of “Eurypterus lacustrus parts” I bought for $120 in buffalo years ago. I noticed 1 piece in 1 box was the other half of another piece in another box. I actually uncovered one specimen and revealed a prosoma and several body segments. I saw only 2 of the bottom segments and a tiny sliver of the head and I worked it open. These 2 pictures show the Eurypterid that was in 2 different box flats. Turns out a pretty nice piece was forgotten. I did a pretty iffy paint job and filled some of it in. Could be worse, could be better. This next image shows the Eurypterid that I exposed after I got home. It was sold as fragments but a better specimen was underneath. This piece has a partial Dolichopterus (very rare) prosoma and on the other side has a lacustrus prosoma. Not bad. This last piece has a folded over Eurypterid. Decent piece. So the 2 flats cost me $120 and I kept these pieces and maybe 3-5 more fragments and I sold the rest on online. I got back $80 or more on the pieces I sold back so this all ended up being a bargain on a bargain. Very inexpensive for the poor college student that I was back then.

I'll give you $4 for it--that's an incredible 100% profit (better than you'll get in the stock market). You'd be crazy to pass up my offer. Really a sweet tooth at any price. Cheers. -Ken
