DPS Ammonite
I found this "spiky head" chert fossil in Pennsylvanian Naco Formation Limestone NW of Payson, Arizona near Pine. The "head" is about 1/3 inch across. Is it a crinoid head without arms, what kind? Thanks, John My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. Miocene_Mason
Maybe holdfast? Got a similarly shaped (different replacement mineral) thing from the red wall FM I believe to be a crinoid holdfast. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

DPS Ammonite
Thank you for your help. I might send a photo to a person who researches Naco echinoderms. My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. See my Arizona Paleontology Guide link The best single resource for Arizona paleontology anywhere.
