Happy New Year y’all,

Squeezed in a few days on the Sulphur over the last week.  Went to a few of my favorite spots and checked out a new spot.  All areas are fully accessible after the last few rises in water level.  The gravel looks great due to the few light rains we’ve had since the big rains.

Things seem to be back to normal out there as far as the amount of fossils to be found.  I had a real hard time finding anything of significance after the last big 30+ft rise.  Luckily things are looking a lot better now.

Fantastic Jake. That mososaur tooth in the jaw bone is really cool. Also that string of verts, shark? Fish? hard to tell from the pic.

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

Very cool finds, especially that red ammonite and mosasaur jaw  Is that a piece of mastodon enamel down the bottom right on the second pic?

Bear with me.  I’m going to post a bunch of the other pics.  This is a string of fish verts but I’m unsure if this would be an xfish or enchodus or somthing else.  Maybe you can help with ID.  At first I thought it was some type of metal trash due to the almost rusty color but quickly realized it was a string of verts after picking it up.

Thanks!  It’s mammoth enamel though it is common to find mastodon enamel on the NSR.  I found another chunk that I forgot to includ in the pictures.

A large chunk of Ammonite that I thought was pretty awesome due to it’s size and detailed suture patterns.

This was an especially HUGE find for me because it’s the most complete well preserved arrow head I’ve ever found.  I’ve been searching creeks all over the south for this guy without much luck.  I walked around looking at it for maybe 30 min before finally finding a safe spot for it in my pack.

My buddy brought along a kayak on one of the days.  The water is still high enough for this though I’m not sure it helped him much.  There is still a lot of gravel still to be revealed as the water recedes.

I had a great time with you out there @Jakuzi The Mos tooth was unreal! Ricky actually asked me if you bought that and were just messing with him. Haha good times. Not only did you have a great day, I found my second point. Can't wait to do it again!

Haha Rick couldn’t believe it.  Hopefully one day he finds something good out there.  Anybody any ideas on what type of point that is?

I would love to tag along sometime! Awesome finds!

You’re welcome to tag along.  Unfortunately I don’t get out as much as I like due to living in Memphis though if rain looks promising I have no problem driving down.  PM info and shoot you a text next time I head out.
