hemi123
So was in one of my usual ditches where I usually find whale bones, and shark teeth varying from Angustidens to Megs. Came across the strange bone that to me looks like a beak of a bird or something. The strange formations or cup like pattern is what threw me off. Found 25 miles inland from Charleston SC and guessing Miocene, Chandler Bridge formation. Any ideas?

Al Dente
Hard to tell from a single angle but I think it is a piece of modern bone that has rodent chew marks on it. Rodents will chew bones to get minerals.
Tidgy's Dad
I think your first picture isn't showing. Could you possibly repost it please? Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

Rockwood
How heavy is it (dry) ? Significantly heavier than one would expect for bone ? How hard is it ? If you tap it with a spoon is the tone best described as tink or tunk ? Just double checking guys.
Cris
My first thought was the same as Al Dente's.
