GatorBait
Hello everyone, I was collecting fossils at Peace River in a Florida. It is a part of the Peace River Formation (named after the river) who’s time period is from Late Oligocene-Early Miocene. Does anyone have an idea of what it could be? Thank you! Shellseeker
The vast majority of mammal fossils found in the Peace River are Pleistocene (last 2.5 million years). Finding Miocene era mammal fossils is a real thrill. There are exceptions. I had a similar find which @Harry Pristis identified as a bison cubonavicular . You might compare your find to photos of that fossil bone on TFF and on the Internet . 2 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
GatorBait
Thank you @Shellseeker! It does indeed appear to be very similar to the bison cubonavicular. Good catch!
