Shellseeker
Went out today. Not much time, going out tomorrow.. Today was cold in the morning 50s and 15mph winds, but then bright sun about 70 in the afternoon. Lovely day. Went to a spot previously dug heavily. Found fewer fossils than normal, but a tooth with roots from an old horse and some excellent duskys, and this. What is this? Extra credit. Is this tooth a Dusky shark? Fossildude19
Looks like a piece of fish skull, to me, Jack. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Cris
I am leaning towards one of the skull elements to a fish, perhaps a sturgeon:

jpc
I am way late, but yes, a midline piece of fish skull. Cool piece.
Shellseeker
Well Thanks for the consensus Identification. This was new to me. I guess these fish skull items do not survive in the rough and tumble of the Peace River. I was in a feeder creek digging in sandy clay when this one popped up. I am always pleased to find something different and the design is so intricate and seemingly fragile.
