For those visitors that want to get away from fossils and the HOT:D afternoons don't forget Skiing on Mount Lemmon just one hour drive from Center City.   Its not the Rockies or Alps but hey its Southern Arizona's best and only ski resort at +10,000 Ft (3K Meters) high.

There's also the Desert Museum, the Pima Air Museum, the Titan Missile Museum, and someone told me there's a miniature museum (museum of miniatures or is the museum itself tiny?).  I haven't been to the latter two.  If you're into books, check out Bookman's.  You can buy/exchange books, dvd's, cd's, records, video games and other stuff.

There's also an old rock shop on the edge of town toward the airport off the Ajo Highway.

It seems the best local Mexican restaurants have somehow gone out of business over the past several years.  I don't know where to go for that anymore but go to the Ramada and ask John (either one) at the Natural Canvas for restaurant advice.

I don't see any snow on those mountains. LOL

Troodon, Thank you so much for all of these pictures. I am still sighing over the Dawn Horse. So much to see... you must get 'overload' at some point.

Yes they are very aware of what they are.  I posted this from a previous show from a different venue: "I overheard following comment to a dealer buying and the trader said while chuckling " I know they are fake but boy do they sell" "

Thanks.  I did at first but after 20 years of going to the show you know where to go to avoid the clutter and where to see the better items first.   If you're here for just a few days it's daunting

And finally some of my purchases, I'm sure you can tell I loved the Moroccan 'Mystery boxes'.  This was tough to fit into my existing bags but it all made it home safely.

Wow.  Just stunning. I had no idea.  Will have to try to get out there some day. Is that baby whale authentic?

Dealer is pretty reputable so have to say yes but did not take a close look.

The baby ichthyosaur with the snake-like body is incredible

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

There are some fantastic fossils at the Tucson Show this year but according to Pete Larsen president of the BHI tweets the star of the show, and the fossil of the day is this Middle Eocene Limnofregata, an extinct frigate bird from the Green River Formation of Lincoln County Wyoming.  The feathers are still under preparation, but in my estimation, it is the most spectacular fossil bird yet discovered.
