Great pics Roger and I’m with Tony, looking forward to the results :)

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Looks like you're having a bit of adventure out there, Roger. Those steep slopes look slippery and familiar. Congratulations on your finds. I bet that was a lot of work to pull them out. Looking forward to seeing the prepped results.  Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

I am always happy to see what others are finding and the type of location that they hunt in.

Glad you took pictures of not just the site but also the local nature pics too.

And as others have said. I look forward to your prep jobs.

Good luck on future outings.

Thanks. I got down to some stylus work today. Had to throw a couple out, since they weren't complete, but here's the rest in the raw. It's going to have to wait for a few days before I can get down to abrading them. I had to dismantel my abrading setup in order to clear space to work on a huge ammonite which someone just delivered and I'll be doing it for him on commission. Took a pic of it as well just for fun.

Great trip report, Roger.  Collecting in winter... good for you.

As long as the temps are bearable and the ground not frozen :)

Great report and love the pictures and finds- thanks for posting.

You're welcome. Gonna be a few days before I get back to finishing off the finds since this giant ammonite is keeping me busy for a while.

You work fast. Well done! It must be sad to have to send it back - particularly an impressive beast like this one.

Couldn't really read your measuring stick, but if those are 12" tiles in that last pic than thats a monster.

Well, I did spend the better part of 12 hours on it. Don't forget, I'm semi-retired, it's the weekend and I don't have to babysit any more. Would have been nice to keep, but that's the way it goes.

Thanks Chris. Yes, I really miss Steve here. His stuff was mostly from the same layers as the giant comes from. He sure could do a great prep job on those things.

Got the finds done today. Here they are. The usual suspects. I think I'm going to try my luck again at another site next time around.

Well, you know that old saying: "you can't have too many Macrocephalites." :P

Nicely prepared, as always. The beeswax definitely lends them a nice, but not overbearing sheen (and gives them a nice texture to hold in hand).

Good luck on breaking new ground - We'll be here, eager for a report. :)
