Dolgeville sites?

I haven't hunted in Dolgeville, but I have hunted in Herkimer.

There are many pull offs for fishermen along West Canada Creek (Rte 28) . Some of those have outcrops near the river where Triarthrus pieces can be found.

I also found an Isotelus juvenille  in a chert cobble I found along the side of the river near the Herkimer Diamond Mines.  (KOA campground across the street. )

The Little Falls site that many people used to frequent is now marked No Trespassing.  (1st bridge across Nowadaga Creek)

On Creek road, go farther south, and across from the town garage, there is an area you can collect at if the water is low enough.

Excellent thanks for the info. What are my chances of finding stuff in the creeks coming off West Canada like middle sprite creek?

Sorry, not familiar with anything off of Canada Creek.

The Nowadaga Creek locality is very productive, - probably more so than West Canada Creek.

When I was in Herkimer I was very new to fossil hunting, and probably not looking in the right places, although I did find some things.

Regards,

I agree with Tim that Nowadaga Creek is a good bet for finding partial Triarthrus trilobites and graptolites, and an occasional nautiloid. All of the fossils are in the shale beds along the stream above the second bridge. I know of other Ordovician trilobites sites north and south of Canajoharie. PM me if you're looking for more specific directions.
