Uncle Siphuncle
It is a rare weekend I'm without family, so I got a head start by leaving work with the truck packed and making a long drive north, arriving at some potential new spots well after dark. Around 11, after several duds, I found a new site in the Mainstreet limestone that yielded a decent Coenholectypus echinoid. Later, during a crick stomp in the Fort Worth formation, I got the jump on 9 Mortoniceras ammonites from 1.5 to 14 inches between 2 and 3 am. Time for 2 1/2 hours of sleep in the back of the truck...I’m guiding a buddy in the morning. Hoping for a fun and fortuitous outing. 5 Grüße, Daniel A. PFOOLEY
You are a crazy person and this was an excellent way to start my day. Good luck today! caldigger
First of all, I have to ask. What's a "crick stomp"? Go around stepping on as many defenseless crickets as you can get under your boots? That last shot looks like it will make a spectacular multi plate. Fruitbat
Hey Dan...they don't have 'cricks' in California! They're all too sophisticated for that! They call them 'creeks'! Have you ever heard anything so silly in your life? Everybody knows that the Creeks were a confederacy of native Americans (more accurately known as the Muscogee) that originally inhabited the southeastern woodlands! It looks like you had a great little expedition though! -Joe Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library

We're too busy drinking our fine imported bottled water, driving our Porsches and avoiding the paparazzi to bother with such things as walking in creeks. That we leave for the hired help to do. Castle Rock
Seems like a guy walking around in the boonies late at night could wind up getting shot by some suspicious landowner. Don't push your luck with them. Dave

KimTexan
The last pic is pretty awesome. I have thought of trying to find a way to go hunting at night, but not at 3:00 AM. I was thinking more like 5:00 to 9:00 PM, but it would have to be a pretty remote place so people don’t get suspicious or nervous.
