I have done some more research and my specimen actually much more resembles the gracile form of Allocrioceras hazzardi than Smedaliceras durhami. In Texas, A. hazzardi is known from the lower Atco age equivalent A. hazzardi zone of the Boquillas Formation in Brewster County and is quite common in that zone of the formation. I have never heard of A. hazzardi being found in the Austin Chalk, but it doesn't seem that far fetched to me. The A. hazzardi zone of the Boquillas Formation is Lower Coniacian in age while my specimen is Upper Coniacian in age, so mine would be a bit younger than the specimens that I have seen. I still have to hear back from Keith Minor, so we shall see.

All the specimens this month are great, especially the trilobites! :D

Neat stuff to lose some fingers to the cold for! :dinothumb:

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
