Hi all,

 

Found this (I think) fish bone at Wassenaar, Netherlands. From the late Pleistocene, some 40’000 years old. 

 

Is it indeed a fossil fish bone? If so, what kind of fish? And what part of the animal would it be?

 

Looking forward to your suggestions!

I have to agree that the cod one looks really similar. So because it's from the North Sea, it's gonna be the Atlantic cod. Does anyone know if this species appears in the Pleistocene fossil record? :headscratch:

I'm glad you found the proper variant for your location (Atlantic cod ).

 I don't know if it appears in the fossil record of your area, but if it was found in Pleistocene sediments, it could be of that age.
