Malone
I found this as is. It seems like there could be something that caused the limestone to chip in this manner. Possible creature? Both sides display similar patterns. Any suggestions on cleaning without damaging possible fossil?
Rockwood
It would be helpful to know where it was found. It's a bit like the way palms look in the split fish beds of the Green River formation.

Fossildude19
Looks like a possible trace fossil/infilled burrow. No creature visible. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Are there maps that you might recommend? I am sure it was under water at some time. A friend used to work on pikes peak and he said he has found marine fossils up there. I would be very interested in good maps that say where what eras are exposed where, concerning fossils.I read Pueblo lake is the stratotype boundary of the Cretaceous period for the world. If there isn't a fossil map I think it would be a good idea.

They will tell You the rock type and age. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
