Strange chip

I found this as is. It seems like there could be something that caused the limestone to chip in this manner. Possible creature? Both sides display similar patterns. Any suggestions on cleaning without damaging possible fossil?

It would be helpful to know where it was found.

It's a bit like the way palms look in the split fish beds of the Green River formation.

I found it just West of Pueblo Colorado. Thank for response!

Looks like a possible trace fossil/infilled burrow.

No creature visible.

Would that be in one of the Pennsylvanian marine basins perhaps ?

? Are there maps that you might recommend? I am sure it was under water at some time. A friend used to work on pikes peak and he said he has found marine fossils up there. I would be very interested in good maps that say where what eras are exposed where, concerning fossils.I read Pueblo lake is the stratotype boundary of the Cretaceous period for the world. If there isn't a fossil map I think it would be a good idea.
