Welcome to the forum.

Where in Mississippi?

What is its size?

Is it possible to take a slightly clearer picture?

Welcome to TFF!

As Kane asked, We need a size/scale and a more precise location.

Also views of the sides and back of the piece.

Regards,

Tony

The forum had an update to the software that is messing with picture upload size.

Try to refresh the page. If that does not work, reduce the file size.

Already a lot of good suggestions ;-)!

At least the radial structures seem to be 3D - can you supply photos from other angels?

But I am getting a somewhat man-made feeling, really strange...

Somewhat leaning geological, but aside from leaning towards that option, I honestly haven't a clue.:headscratch:

I say it'd be a good idea to look for a local Geology club and/or expert in the field if you are still clueless.

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.

I'm not thinking petrified wood for this one. The radial "cuts" are too regular, the growth lines perhaps too thick, and the colour a bit off from what I've seen of Mississippi pet wood. Also, it doesn't seem to have a continuing shape/texture on the opposite side. Is there any chance you could zoom in and focus on that circular divot in this picture?

Thanks for the additional photos! Unfortunately, not much more to see. The "matrix" looks like limestone, does it bubble with vinegar?

Yes, it looks remotely like the cross-section of branch or a small steem, but I think, this is only a superficial resemblance. What do others think?
