Ammonite or what?

Picked this up at auction..don’t know what it is. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much. It is very heavy. Has some marking on bottom but can read. Sounds mentally when singing with edge of scissors.

I am seeing chips in the glaze on last picture. This is going down in my books as a terra cotta garden ornament.

Agree with caldigger, terracotta garden ornament. (writing on bottom is likely the manufacturer's mark.)

Usually fossil gastropods are filled with sediments inside, and have a typical texture. In the case of this "specimen" that you showed us, it has no texture, the spiral turns are not smooth, but rather rustic and I do not see fills with sediments. One more vote here for a beautiful work of art created by human hands!

I agree with ynot and caldigger. My first thought was ceramic, in other words terracotta. It sings nicely.
