FLfossils
I found this partial tooth at Peace River and I'm having some trouble definitively IDing it. I think it may be some type of cetacean.

jcbshark
That’s a tough one being so partial but I’ll guess possibly a piece of tapir tooth Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!
Harry Pristis
I think I agree with jcbshark . . . this may be one quarter of a tapir upper. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
Shellseeker
I have nothing better than Jeff and Harry.. Not a lot of confidence in any ID, but tapir would be the right size for this one. On the last photo, is that Cementum on the outside of root or enamel.. very odd.. calhounensis
I noticed the cementum like material on the tooth as well. I'm not fully convinced it is tapir, but don't feel confident labeling it anything else either.
FLfossils
Thank you for the help everybody! Quote 8 hours ago, Shellseeker said: I have nothing better than Jeff and Harry.. The cementum is on the outside of the enamel and to me it looks like the crown is relatively intact and conical, just the cementum is missing on the other side.
