Al Dente
I’m not sure what it is but I don’t think it is turtle. Looks man made to me. Can you show a close up of a broken edge?
sixgill pete
I do not believe this is turtle. Like Al Dente said, I am not sure what it is either. Harry Pristis
Looks like no turtle shell fragment I've ever seen. I don't know what it is. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
KimTexan
It looks like metal to me, like an aluminum or steel alloy. Does it have a metal or tin like sound when you tap it against something? Amuninum wouldn’t be magnetic, but is the piece magnetic? If it were magnetic that does not automatically rule out a fossil though. There are magnetic fossils, but I don’t know that Florida is likely to have fossils of that nature.
Darktooth
I have to admit that when I look at it again it doesn't look like the turtle pieces I recieved from a forum member. Sorry, I should have took a longer look before I shot out an Id. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Cthulhu2
When I found it I thought it w turtle at first, but something just seemed off, hence why I'm here now. I'll post more pics when I get back, but it did not produce the china-like clink when tapped against other fossilized material. It was more softer, but still tough. abyssunder
Maybe it's a floor tile or wall tile fragment.
