What's this? Found on a Lake Michigan Beach

I found this rock and others like it.  It feels sandy, has a few things like plant stems, leaves and seeds embedded and fossilized  in it.

I see these a lot in Florida on the beaches, it's probably not too old as its very common to find modern sea worms and other alive organisms in them, im sure youd find some neat stuff looking at it with magnification.
