I bought this tooth from a antique mall when I was back in Virginia for a bit, and while the tooth has quite a lot of info and is in good condition, before I try to add it anywhere here. I wanna know if this tooth is real or even from a different species. (Which I highly doubt)

Its real and looks like a Carcharodontosaurid but like to see more..  Can you take a picture of the base and one where I can see the inside serrations.  Very nice tooth by the way.

I agree. It's definitely 100% real and it's not a compound. It really does seem to be a Carcharodontosaurid tooth of Paul Sereno!

Yes, it's a sweet acquisition for any collection!

These typical serrations do not lie! Congratulations, you really own a genuine Carcharodontosaurid tooth!

Very nice, the red pigment is a nice bonus too. :trex:

What is the red pigment? Leftover tissue?

More than likely the result of mineralization.

That would be my best guess, could be from where it was dug out too.

In fact this reddish pigmentation is typical of the beds of Kem Kem, in morocco, where this tooth was discovered.

Makes sense considering the mass amount of richness contained in the soil of the Kem Kem beds.

Sorry to cause confusion; I was originally just trying to say that your piece looks nice, and I admire the coloration, sorry for the long line of comments I started.

Most of my private collection comes from the beds of Kem Kem which consists of 3 geological formations. I love Kem Kem because it is one of the richest beds in the world, and also one of the least studied, and therefore so mysterious!

I only have one piece from the kem kem beds, I'd love to get a piece such as the one seen in this post on my hands.

For comparisons, here is a Carcharodontosaurid tooth that is part of my private collection. It is a juvenile Carcharodontosaurid tooth:

Wait. Another question. Do you think my tooth belonged to a juvenile as well?

Not so big, but a juvenile also has its charms! :D
