Caseyc
This was found in the northern end of the Sacramento Valley. I’m curious if it’s bison or cow. This area would be on the border of the bison range, but the area was used frequently by the Native Americans. It could be a possibility that it was imported in ancient times. abyssunder
I can see a big stylid there, so the tooth is a bovid tooth. I'm leaning toward bison. This picture shows the chewing surface, so it's the upper part of the tooth. Usually, Bos(cow) teeth are larger than Bison teeth which are more gracile. How long is the tooth crown in question (measured in mm)? Caseyc
Thank you for the reply! I’ll get measurements in mm tomorrow. If my reloading calipers didn’t have metric I would have a problem.
Caseyc
Upper part of the tooth is 16.40 mm x 30.47, to the widest parts. 45.35mm longest.

Bison teeth are more robust than Bos teeth. With the dimensions provided, your tooth might be of Bison.
