Bizarre bone?

Good afternoon for all, in the greater Forum Fossil of the world :D! Unfortunately the seller does not have much information regarding this bone. It is described in the advertisement simply as African unidentified bone of reptile, Kem Kem. Any help what that might be? Thanks for all the help!

The seller is very accurate on this one " unidentified bone of reptile " :D

Thank you, my friend @TroodonAny chance, any hope of pterosaur here? Or Dromaeosaurid?

Thanks for all the reviews! So I guess only I'm seeing something that you're not seeing, and if it's something I'm thinking it is, ie a pterosaur tapejarid vertebra, then it will be something rare in Kem Kem. The salesman is selling this Chunkosaurus for US$ 75,00. I bought it now, but if it's not what I'm thinking, then unfortunately I'll have to pay dearly for my mistake. I believe that under this matrix there is much more than you can see. When the specimen gets here, I'm going to clean up and remove the matrix. So if I'm right, I'll show you what I'm seeing. But in this case, I already have 95% certainty, only for this reason I made the purchase.

It's a brave move, my friend, and many great finds have been made through conviction.

I wish you luck and very much hope you are right. :)

I believe that in this case the matrix was not added, after all, what sense would the seller have to cover a valuable bone, which would be even more valuable if it were clean and without the matrix?

By the way, the seller has no idea what this is!

In the ad, he just made it clear that it is an unidentified reptile bone, Kem Kem. So adding array here, has no meaning.

Is It real, or it's not real, that's the question!

Based on prior post you do have a vivid imagination :) I do sincerely hope you are correct on this one.  It would be a nice addition.

Actually I only made the purchase because I already have 95% certainty. I made the post here hoping you all provided me with the 5% that was missing.

But here there is no vivid imagination, it is science, for the fragment of visible vertebra is typical and all that I could expect of a pterosaur tapejarid, besides this, this part buried in the matrix is the greatest evidence that I have:

Besides, I've never seen an matrix that was as symmetrical as this. It is not vivid imagination, it is neither coincidence nor pure chance! Look:

Besides this, finally, this matrix is as thin as a cardboard, or maybe even less! Believe me, underneath this matrix is something! When I bought, I bet US$ 75,00 dollars on this! Now I am very anxious, hoping to arrive. :D

  • 3 weeks later...

Updating the Post.

Today the specimen arrived here at home! :D

After a meticulous mechanical cleaning using several dental curette numbers, I obtained this result under the matrix:

image.png.1c9f6f3a82aacb48622f6b744b72407f.png

My initial instincts were indeed correct, for underneath the matrix was a huge bony process:

image.png.03879403c7293aba9f850770e31d93b1.png

This is as thin as a paper, but is so thin that unfortunately the dental curette has gone through the process, causing a small hole in the center of the process:

image.png.afc91d159f726f88946b00088e54cb47.png

Yes, I was right, and I feel absolutely confident, with 100% absolute certainty that we have here a very rare vertebra of a pterosaur tapejarid. And this helps to prove that pterosaurs tapejarids actually inhabited Kem Kem, they were there, but just they are only rarer to be discovered!

You’ve got great eyes to see a vert when we all saw a bit of a crabby bone. Great prep to. How many hours work? I’m glad you’ve been rewarded. I’d not worry too much about the tiny hole.

Thank you my friend @JohnBrewer! :D

In fact, I believe that I did not have great eyes, but rather that the specimen showed serious signs of having a large and very fine process there:

image.png.451dc824705f45804a27456771f88d12.png

And the perfect symmetry on both sides of the matrix could hardly be mere coicidence;

image.png.356b5f509207a07c3cefb683bea23e11.png

In addition, here we have a very thin and completely hollow vertebra:

The day I received my purchase here at my house, to be honest, if my anguish and anxiety could do the work for me, I think it would have taken only 2 minutes to prepare...

But in fact, the preparation work in total lasted approximately 6 hours to remove grain per grain of sand...

And finally I realized that my suspicion of a tapejarid pterosaur vertebra was correct, and my US$ 75,00 was super well invested! :yay-smiley-1:

Find Pterosaurs that belong to Kem Kem, it's a passion for me! Especially pterosaurs tapejarids that were an ancient dream...
