Fossil Preparers In Each State

SULLY

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if there my be a way to put together a list of people that do fossil preparation and restorations that are legit for each state. I know for myself that I have specimens that are in field jackets still that need work done to them. And you really don't want to have to try box these things up and mail them across the states. Not only is it expensive, but by the time it reaches it's destination, it's going to need even more restoration. It would be great to know if there are people in your local area that have the ability and skills to take on such task that can be trusted. There are plenty of hacks out there just like in every other kind of work. But if we could compile a list of documented people that have references and history to back there abilities up, that would be awesome. Just a thought.

Being a non commercial entity, we do not wish to advertise anybodies businesses here on the Forum.

A better way to go about this would be to advertise that you are looking for a preparator in whatever state, and if they know of someone or if they can do the job, then have them contact you via the Forum's Personal Message system. ;)

Sorry. I wasn't trying to go around the rules. It's just hard to know who you can trust to do this kind of work. I figured with all the people that belonged to this site, this would be the perfect place to get the needed information and references. My apologies. I will go the route you had suggested. Thank you.

So just out of curiosity, which portion of the forums would be the appropriate one to ask for people that do prep work in my area? I figured I rather ask now than to assume and have an oops again.

      Thanks, Jason

Im gunna raise my hand too and say that I do one heck of a lot of prepping but rarely do any for anyone else.  Well, my sons are an exception.

What you can do is ask in the preparation topic "Hey, I live in (*) Oregon. Is there anyone you can recommend near me." Usually you will get an answer followed by several agreements (hopefully) to a test to their work.
