oldtimer
I am wondering if this is a Ginkgo leaf or something else? Looks like a Mazon Creek fossil to me.
izak_
If its from Mazon Creek its not a ginkgo. But even if its not I don't think its a ginkgo. Maybe @Nimravis will be able to help. Is this specimen yours?
Ludwigia
Well, it certainly is Ginkgo-like, so maybe it's not from Mazon Creek. Can you show some close-ups of the leaf patterns? Rockwood
Knowing the age would be helpful. Most older forms have highly divided leaves.
Nimravis
It does look like a Mazon Creek concretion, and if it is, I would say it is a Cyclopteris leaf.
oldtimer
No it's not mine. Girlfriend sent me the picture. Saw it in a lot of others. It looked like a Mazon Creek style with the other similar ones. Enlarging my picture did not bring out any better details. I am not familiar with all the different species found in the Mazon Creek area. It just resembled leaves similar to a Ginkgo. Maybe a fern? Rockwood
Something about the shape makes me think it may be part of a reproductive structure. (cone like)
