Hello,

I saw these 4 trilobites online.

I was wondering if they were fake because they look really good.

First pic: Cyphaspis boutscharafinense

Second: Cyphaspis Agayuara

Third: Leonaspis Williamsi

Fourth: Harpes Perradiatus

All the trilobites are from Morocco. What do you think?

I have more pictures if you need them. Thank you for all help.

Regards

The trilobites do appear to be authentic. The first and second IDs are reversed.

Cyphaspis agayuara has a long axial spine and Cyphaspis boutscharafinense does not.

Kettneraspis (=Leonaspis) williamsi is an Oklahoma species. This one is Kettneraspis sp.

I think we need more pictures to be sure, but even if they are real, I would pass on them and take a better specimens. The Harpes for instance is full of 'hits'. The first one looks the nicest one.

Morphology of the trilobites and preparation style issues indicate 4 real specimens, though within a variation of bad prepping :)

The both Cyphaspis have a coating, the others not.

They look like the typical Moroccan material available through dealers. Probably decent prices, but not so decent prep. I don't believe any of those species are particularly worth the effort to fake either.

They do appear authentic. Morphologically, they also correlate strongly to their place of origin as @piranha helpfully indicated. Do keep in mind that, as he said, the IDs require a reversal here.

Yes I will keep it in mind.

Obviously the seller does not know much.

I will take it’s real then.

Thank you so much Piranha and all the others for the help.

See you soon!

I also saw these trilobites to sell. In my opinion, as there is not a great job of preparation, the prices are fair, besides this they seem to be very real. I do not believe in forgery here.

For comparison, you can see here some examples when they are very well prepared:

Note: You may notice that as said our friend piranha, Cyphaspis agayuara has a long axial spine and Cyphaspis boutscharafinense does not.

Are these from Your collection?

It would really be too good if they really came from my collection! But unfortunately they are not. Just dreams!

It's true ... The details are so clear that some of them do not even look like they're fossilized ... It looks like it's still alive!
