Txfossilmom
Any ideas on this? Found in a stream bed in the Glen Rose area of texas on a friend's property. The seemingly right angle and cracked appearance of the rock caught my eye. We found lots of Graphaea a few bivalves and gastropods in the area and none of the obvious rocks in the area had any cracks or looked like this thing at all. I'm not sure what to make or it. DatFossilBoy
Hi, Looks vaguely like coprolite, but to me it looks more like an original rock. Lets see what the others say. Regards
indominus rex
I don't see any bone structure, to me it just looks like a rock. But Glen rose area is a marine deposit so good luck with finding fossils. Regards, Indominus rex Life started in the ocean. And so did my interest in fossils. Auspex
I wonder whether it mightn't be a stream-eroded piece of concrete? Txfossilmom
It's definitely not concrete and I don't think it's bone either. Looking around online I wonder if it is an artifact of some sort as it reminded me of this a bit.
ynot
Looks like a rock that has been exposed to a hot cold or dry wet cycle for some time. Either of these processes can cause the fracturing and shapes of this piece. Does not look like a fossil or artifact. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." erose
Look for a bedding plain of similar cracks. Although the pattern is small there are fossilized mud cracks in the GR. Ancient lagoons that dried out in that ancient sea.
