Interesting article but there are other venomous mammals. One lives in my back yard, the Southern Short-tailed Shrew. It has venomous saliva. Platypuses are another venomous mammal. They have a venom spur on their foot. 

 

Edit: Sorry, I misread the title. Only one to survive the extinction.

Platypuses survived the extinction, but maybe they weren't venomous back then?
