Ludwigia
I was back in the Wutach on Friday and visited a spot in the Callovian. Found a few pieces worth keeping and this is the first one which I just finished prepping. One of the more rare ammonites. A Bullatimorphites bullatus. More to follow once I'm done with the prep. 2 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

PFOOLEY
Very cool! What size is this critter? "I am glad I shall never be young without wild country to be young in. Ludwigia
This next one is as deformed as they come, but I've kept it nevertheless for the collection since this species is even harder to find than the Bullatimorphites and it's only the third one I've found in as many years. Ludwigia
8 hours ago, Monica said: Congrats on the rare finds, Roger! Thanks Monica Now for some more typical finds, although one is somewhat atypical, which I'll explain in a moment. The first one is a Macrocephalites cf. jacquoti with a diameter of 21cm. It's a somewhat fragile steinkern which doesn't even have much in the way of impressions on it, but it's complete (although I had to glue a piece back on at the top), so I'll take it. There's a tube worm dwelling on it at the bottom right. This next one also belongs to the same species. Diameter is 17cm. It's the atypical one. I was figuring I'd probably end up throwing it away, since the back half of it appeared to be pretty well nonexistent, but the preservation was good, so I thought I'd have a blast at the back with the abrader and lo and behold. The inner whorls, some of the septa and some remnants of the innards were also well preserved. Makes for something educational, I find. It also has a tube worm riding on it at the top left. That which appears to be one in the center is actually a remnant of the last whorl. I also made a brief visit to a site in the Aalenian on that day and came up with this Ludwigia haugi. Diameter 8cm. So that's all for the time being, folks. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
