Mahnmut
After the satisfying outcome of my sloth-experiment (changing geoworld megatherium to Thalassocnus) I took another look at some older dinosaur models. Sauropoda- Giraffatitan: "Edutoys Brachiosaurus", added teeth and one cervical vertebra to give him a more erect pose, Changed cervical ribs from medial "monorib". changed leg pose. Thyreophora- Stegosaurus: Glencoe models , changed tail and thagomizer to more modern pose Ceratopsia- Triceratops: Kaiyodo "Wild rush" gave him a treetrunk to look over. Ornithopoda- Parasaurolophus: Geoworld, drilled out intercostal plastik. painted it. Theropoda- Spinosaurus: had it 3d printed. I wonder if I should give it a swimming pose, what do you think? 8 Try to learn something about everything and everything about something Thomas Henry Huxley

Mahnmut
Thanks for your feedback! I am still pondering a swimming pose for the spinosaurus, any good sources on that? izak_
Very nice job on those models! This paper might help a bit with the Spinosaurus: LINK
Mahnmut
Aloha. thanks for the link. here is what looks right to me for a swimming Spinosaurus (without knowing about detailed anatomical plausibility) Maybe its to mammal-like. Just photoshop. I have to add, by saying "had it 3d-printed" I don´t mean that the actual digital model is my own. I bought the printout on shapeways. It is one piece. I could cut and reassemble it though. 1 Try to learn something about everything and everything about something Thomas Henry Huxley
Mahnmut
To be completely clear: I didn´t create these models,They are commercially available models that i changed and improved (at least in my opinion) Other than with my whales, those are handmade using 3d printed skulls where available, scanning the Spermwhale myself. Mahnmut
Hi everyone, being at home wit a cold I found the time for some tinkering again. And again i got some hours of fun out of a 15-dollar toy tha I could improve on, at least in my perception. Mahnmut
Ahoi. Some new patients, Sold as Tyrannosaurus (!) Stegosaurus, Triceratops and Velociraptor. Not speaking about their poses I intend to make them a Concavenator, Kentrosaurus, Styracosaurus and, well, a big raptor with a better posture. That will take some time, just thought i post the "before" pics ahead. Mahnmut
Thanks for your kind comments. Mahnmut
A Hybrid. Using parts from "Tyrannosaurus" and the Raptor I try to approximate the siluette I am after. The skull is a printed Allosaurus whose nose i will have to reshape. but all that will wait till my ecology/geology exam next week. Concavenator reference is from Ortega et al. 2010 via google image sarch. Mahnmut
Another hybrid. looking at the short tail of the "Tyrannosaurus"-model I thought, maybe there is an Oviraptorid in the making. Would need some more reshaping than the COncavenator, but looks still possible. The skull will be a challenge though. best Regards, J 1 Try to learn something about everything and everything about something Thomas Henry Huxley

Mahnmut
Hi again. it is a bad habit I have to try and assemble half-ready parts out of impatience. Still, here are the next steps on the long way from a badly made raptor to my very own Oviraptorid. I ponder using real vertebrae from a magpie that I found as roadkill some years ago. Not exactly the right proportions, but way better than anything I can make on that scale. Mahnmut
Hi again. I think I will give give the "Oviraptor" an incubating pose, that´s the only way to do him -or her - justice. Not sure about the feet though, maybe I will have to look at ostriches to get it right. Skull is coming along. Concavenator got some less puppetlike arms and a seagulls neck I found on the beach, tail still needs attention. Mahnmut
Thanks rebu! The Concavenator is about 31 cm long, I think adjusting the tail will make it 2-3 cm longer still. the Oviraptorid will be about 22cm.
