Raptor tooth?

Hey.

I saw this online and I was wondering what it could be.

I was thinking about some kind of raptor. Abellisaurid?

Could someone tell me the specie name? It is from Kem Kem.

Thanks so much.

Cheers

Yes, looks like Abelisaurid. There is no way to put a species or even genus on this one as there are no Abelisaurids described in the Kem Kem Beds .  Seller often say it's Rugops primus (only known from Niger)  or dromaeosaurus, which is also not known from the Kem Kem Beds.

So you say it’s not Abelisaurid because there are no ones described in Kem Kem or it is Abellisaurid?

I am confused

I cannot help you with an I.D., but I will say it is a nice little tooth.

By the way, I was hoping you had a sound bite embedded so I could hear a real raptor toot!!! :D  (see title)

There are Abelisaurids, you Just can't name them yet as no research has been done on them so far.

Sorry I don’t get what you mean?

Is something wrong with the title of the post?

Correct they have yet to find a skeleton or a skull with those type teeth.   By comparing the characteristics of that tooth to others discovered in different regions of the world paleontologists are able to determine its from the family of Abelsaurids.  Its not a raptor.

Ok cool. So it’s nearly sure it’s from a Abelsaurid?

Thanks.

It is a dinosaur tooth that comes from the family abelisauridae.  It cannot be narrowed down to a species because there has not been enough evidence besides isolated teeth.  Because of this, scientists cannot identify a new species of abelisauridae so the best identification is Abelisauridae indet.
