Hunterc123
I found this one ages ago when i was a kid. I didn't even realize it was a fossil until i picked it up years later and saw that the "dirt" on the inside was solid rock with small shell pieces. Seems relatively recent if anything. Don't know exactly where it came from.

Kane
Without a location, it may prove very challenging to pinpoint an ID. If you can recall even the state you may have collected from, that might help. 3.5 inches = 8.89 cm ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Unfortunately, the tags are very easy to overlook. It is always best to put the location found in the post. People hunt in different states/countries when on vacation, or away for work. It can not always be assumed that you find everything in the same area of a state, or the same state elsewhere. Kane
Doh! I missed the tag! As close as I can figure, it is some species of conch. I haven't been able to track down anything specifically identical in any of the plates I've looked at so far. ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

It does look similar to this except the spire on mines isn't as long and the other end seems to be broken a bit.
mikeymig
It looks like turbinella scolymoides. Related to the West Indian Chank. Not a conch. Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin
