MSirmon
Headed to the west coast of Ireland. Are there any restrictions or suggestions for hunting fossils?
caldigger
I can't answer your questions, but we will require pictures! P.S.- do you think there is any room in your luggage for someone 6' 1"?

If no major restrictions and some success I can see some Irish fossils in an upcoming offering. If prohibited from collecting them definitely pictures. I’ll even have a Guinness in honor of the forum members.
Tidgy's Dad
It will be wet. Wear a waterproof coat. And a hat. Not a fez. Irish Guinness is different. And better. 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

Thanks. I’ve been to Dublin a couple times but never allowed to wander around the countryside so have only really experienced the Guinness which, as you say, is definitely better. No fez .... check

caldigger
That type of wandering will for sure get him wet. Besides, he'll be on the west side of the island. But hey, who knows, with enough Guinness...

I also remember some impressive trace fossils at the Cliffs of Moher. LINK I have a slab of black Galway fossiliferous marble, which shows fossils in cross section. I believe much of western Ireland is Carboniferous in age. Have a good trip, Mike. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
