There is a trilobite site right on the edge of town.  NW corner, if I remember correctly. Is anyone else willing to share the details?

There is a ruined monument by the Great Divide area, downhill a little is a Cambrian Shale outcrop. I don't believe Trilobite collecting is allowed in the Bright Angel Shale at the foot of Frenchman Mountain. but people do it anyway. Don't drive up the Mountain, BLM has a $10,000 fine for taking motorize vehicles up there.

I've heard of collecting at Railroad Pass, but have never been there.

There is a publication on the local geology:

Tingley, Joseph.V., Becky W. Purkey, Ernest M. Duebendorfer, Eugene I. Smith, Jonathan G. Price, and Stephen B. Castor.  2001.

Geologic Tours in the Las Vegas Area.  Expanded Edition.  Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology Special Publication 16. University of Nevada, Reno.

There may be an updated edition.  I see people trying to get over $20 for the hard copy but you might find it cheaper or as a free download if you take some time to look.
