One Huge Ammonite!!!

Recommended Posts

I was eating dinner and my son came in and asked me I he could leave that big ammonite here in my garage.  "sure son".  Then this morning I walked into the garage and there it was sittin on my extra chair.  I had forgotten just how big this thing was!!    He took off all the rock on both sides too.  That had to be quite the job and making it about 150 lbs lighter?   Its missing a big part of the fragmacone but he tells me that he will composite another piece onto it someday.  This kid is gunna have one H-E-Double Toothpicks of a collection!!!  This thing is 26 inches across!!!

Nice!

And it looks quite at home in that chair as well. :)

No, he is not the king,  I have a friend that puts us both to shame with it comes to the ammonite collection. And we both have some purty good ammonites.   But he's got one heck of good start.  :)

Are you talking about Ron's son, or the ammonite itself?

There are larger ammonites in existence... this one may be a prince.

Oops, my mistake.  Thought you were talking about my kid.  These Placenticeras also get bigger than this but very far and very few between.

My son came over the other day and told me that that ammo sittin in the chair was the bad side!  Here is the good side and not only that, it looks to have a complete living chamber!!  Wow!!!  And not only that,  but it has some amazing colors!!!  Even some purples!!!
