Nimravis
So Thursday afternoon i drove 3 1/2 to the Clarion Hotel in Iowa City, Iowa so I could be up bright and early for the start of the show. Like Tucson and other show locations, there is a Hotel Show that takes place inside the Clarion on Thursday thru Saturday nights. I have to admit that I had more fun at the Hotel Show versus the couple hours that I spent at the actual show today. I would guess that there were maybe 30 rooms that were open and that contained mostly fossils, but some minerals. Not all of the vendors at the hotel participate in the actual show. With that said, I was really disappointed in the amount of vendors that showed up today for the show, but I did hear that there was some show taking place on the East Coast, and many of the vendors went there. I will start with a few pictures from the Hotel Show. Here are Pics from the actual Show:

Nimravis
I did buy several things today, but nothing really special. My favorite piece was this large slab that measures 14 1/2" by 11 1/2 " by 1 1/4" mounted on a wood stand. It is a 6 track slab of Permian Coconino Sandstone from Arizona of Laoporus sp. I picked this large piece up for a whopping $20.00. After I left the show, I continued into Iowa to collect Isorthoceras sociale Cephalopods in Graf, Iowa. I will post in the Fossil Hunting Section shortly.
smt126
Amazing pictures. That potty chair looks like the same vendor that was at the esconi show. It looked like there were some decent prices in there too. I'm actually in Iowa right now but I'm not going to be able to swing down there. Don't feel bad, I just hope it is better next year.

Wrangellian
Wow.. Wish I could attend a 'fossils only' show (even if there are a few rocks/minerals). Those crinoid plates are spectacular. So you can do good work using primitive tools! Those rough Moroccan jobs can't be blamed on the lack of proper equipment! Where can I get me a Permian track plate like that for $20?? What's on those plates in pic 4 of your 2nd post? I can't tell

At the actual show it is only fossils, anything goes at the hotel. 18 minutes ago, Wrangellian said: What's on those plates in pic 4 of your 2nd post? I can't tell I zoomed up on the original pic at it is as follows: Pseudobradypus ichno sp. Keota Sandstone Member McAlester Formation Mid-Pennsylvanian Haskell Co., Oklahoma The one on the Right was $40 and the one one the Left was $
Sagebrush Steve
Great show, and the prices look much better than what I saw in Tucson.

The prices were good and at the hotel one dealer had super cheap prices- but he was not selling at the show, so unless you stopped by the hotel at night, you would not had seen them.
Darktooth
Lots of awesome fossils! Some of those trilobites made me drool! I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.

I thought the $15 per agatized snail looked a bit steep, given the number of them in that box... and that in another pic there are agatized clams apparently from the same location for $3 each!

I agree- I saw that was really surprised- never did see anyone by them. I also saw some of the same items from last year. A time comes when you have to adjust prices, or you are not going to move things.

Yes, I noticed that too, but a lot of the trilobites and other fossils looked cheap enough that even I could afford them.
DevonianDigger
I would have to go directly from that show to a twelve-step program. I have some friends who are at the show, thanks for sharing the pictures! Lets me check it out without going bankrupt 3 Jay A. Laditz
Thank you for taking the time to get us these pictures. Looks like a great show! And a nice buy on that track plate, seems to me you got it for a great price
Bobby Rico
Looks fun and some decent fossils. I hope you got yourself a nice couple of fossil. Thanks for the posting.

Nimravis
@Laditz and @Phevo I also feel that it was a great price for the trackway and it is mounted on a nice stand for easy display. @Bobby Rico It was fun, but I wish that more vendors had attended to give a wider variety of fossils. indominus rex
Amazing, how much did those spiny trilobites cost? They all looked very reasonable. Life started in the ocean. And so did my interest in fossils.
