Ash Posted April 7, 2018 Share Posted April 7, 2018 Been a long time coming, we found this and jacketed it back in October and was waiting for a friend to help with it since it's a new one to me, but he's rather busy so Skye ( @Jesuslover340 ) and I have decided to just do it and get it outta the way. We've started some prep but will be finishing it and updating the thread tommorow, sleep beckons and I'll leave you guys and gals with some teaser pics. Ash Posted April 7, 2018 Author Share Posted April 7, 2018 Not quite as toothy as most, this one, and It's in pretty bad shape and I'm not real sure how I'm going to go about this. Going to end up with a fair bit of dirt glued between gaps I think, lots missing, lots of broken free floating pieces, some i glued in place in dirt when we first found it as wasn't sure what it was. Off to get some acetone for paraloid then more updates and it'll be obvious what it is (we've prepped further than what is in pics). While digging around the fossil to jacket it we found this little isolated Macropus sp. tooth also, a pleasant surprise. Looks aren't priority on this one as it's so beaten up. Being a shattered, incomplete skull, this is going to be tricky. Got a couple Doctor Peppers in the fridge to celebrate finishing it..when we do. Down to 2 pieces, this being the most important to make it 1. Pressures on. 5 minute epoxy taking an hour to set is very painful. It's sorta amusing - I jokingly said and always imagined when I found a Leo it would be a skull and it would be in a pain in the butt place and full of roots. Well, it was. Found it in an undercut bank with a tree roof growing through its eye. We had to cut a lot of roots from above to remove overburden during excavation. You can see what I mean in the first pic in this thread.
