It's nice to have a whole day at your disposal. The last two above were done this morning, then my wife and I took a brisk hike through the vineyards overlooking the Lake of Constance, had a tasty meal in Meersburg and then I got back to the prep bench for the rest of the afternoon. The first one is a multiblock with Ancolioceras opalinoides. Top left 2nd crate. 17cm. long.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm trying to do that as well as I can.

Didn't get much done today, but at least the little bivalve and a small matrix multiblock are done.

Love the little bivalve Roger. The ammonites are adorable too. You have a career's worth of excellent finds there, especially the ones with multiple specimens. Can't wait to see the rest of them prepped. Thanks for sharing.

Nice specimens, nice prep, nice pictures.  Now to get to Aalenian, I have to take a left off of I-20 near what town in Georgia?

@Ludwigia Roger these are super impressive. I really need to come out there and visit you one of these days. I really wish I could just go out and find Ammonites like you do.

These are beautiful, Roger! I have a difficult time deciding which I like best. :)

Me too, although I've already sorted out a few for the collection.

The best thing would be to drive to the airport and get a plane to southern Germany :)

I mostly tend to prep what I think are the best ones first, so now I've done some of the slightly damaged ones. Either bits missing or glued back together.

I'm planning on going back to the site this afternoon and this time I'll be taking my camera along with me, so I should have a few in situ photos to show.

It's the speed that amazes me and yet still such quality prepping! :)

Sweet ammo collection! Stockpiling for war?

(Get what I did there?) :P

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.

Thanks guys. The wonderful thing about most of the fossils from this horizon is that the separating layer between matrix and fossil is ideal, which allows me to progress quite quickly.
