A trip to the Middle Jurassic Aalenian

I'm still eating my popcorn, but drooling too. Fun exposures to hunt in and the prizes are well worth it (if you have a prep setup). Thanks again for the pics!

Love the gastropod and the Myophorella. :)

Nicely prepped, of course.

Splendid!

Aren't they nice? :D

Great trip report! Thanks for taking us along Roger. :) You sure do transform those chunks of rock into gorgeous specimens!

Glad you enjoyed yourself Mr. Bones and thanks for the laurels :)

Roger, those first batch of photos look similar to a place my friends and I visited last spring. Beautiful pictures documenting your arduous work. Absolutely in love with that bivalve.

I think I remember giving you and Ralph and Aza directions to that site. Love that bivalve too.

You're welcome. Maybe I'll get one more done tonight so you don't need to overeat.

Thanks, JP. I didn't catch you the times you were over here so it sure would be nice to see you sometime if you ever come over again.

Well, Dave, now you can stop eating your popcorn for the time being, since I at least managed to get one of these finds finished.  Can anyone guess which one this was?

Nice try, but that was the one I called a dud a few posts ago. Sigh! And it looked so promising.

Sometimes a fossil appears after whacking the block, as here.

I've gone through the rest of the finds now and unfortunately most of them weren't as well preserved as I had hoped, being almost all just partials. Fortunately, however, one of them turned out quite nicely, even though I had to do a bit of repair work on it. To avoid any confusion this time, I'll show the original again.

And here's the finished product from various points of view. 2x Ancolioceras opalinoides on a block measuring 14x11x8cm.

So, that's the last one from this trip. Time to head back there again soon and continue on getting the next blocks out. Hope you enjoyed the trip.

Nice grouping from the last visit.

Hope the next visit will produce more better finds!

Sweet ammos! :ammonite01:

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
