Upper Devonian of NY

Here are just a few of the fossils I find in the Upper Devonian of New York State. The site I found these specimens at is unpublished and unknown to collectors. Some of the rare things I have found - fish skull, phyllocarid, branchiopods, and perfectly preserved cephalopods. The large orthocone is very rare in this formation and I know of only one that was found according to old publications on this unit. I have found fossil logs several feet long that had to stay in the field. I have to pack food, water, tools, and more a 2-3 miles to the location so I'm limited as to how much I can carry back to my truck. Thanks

Wow! The nautiloid and ammonoid finds are remarkable!

The free-standing nautiloid is a gorgeous piece in its own right. Yeah, never make public that honey hole! Hopefully this site will remain productive for you for a long time to come... and we will be the lucky recipients of seeing your finds. :)

A friend did this artwork on a piece of Upper Devonian shale from NY of this formation/locality. It goes with the collection.

Congratulations Mikey. That's a very impressive collection, especially coming from a single site. All of the specimens are great, but I especially love the goniatites with the prominent suture patterns. I don't get to see much decent Upper Devonian material, my collection of which is still relatively small. Hope to expand that in future. Oh, and by the way, that's an excellent art work looking great on the stone.

Beautiful collection.

The goniatites, nautiloids, even the wood are fabulous.
