jalcon
Bought this off an auction site from what I thought (and maybe is) an honest seller. Asked twice if there was ANY restoration done. Said no. The long side measures 6.12" The tooth weights 13 oz, which seems like for a tooth of this size..but...who knows. I worry that the tips of the roots were restored to add some length to push it over 6". The ends of the root almost seem like a different matte, or color black. But also, this could be because the angle changes there, and the light changes...not sure. Also, maybe the enamel? I also bought a cheap UV flashlight and nothing really stands out when I look at it....but I admit I don't know what I am looking for. I am completely new to the Meg/fossil world. Here are the pics. Thank yoU!
Baryonyx
Judging from the pictures you sent, it looks good to me.
Vieira
For what I see the root seem to had some restauration..... I think this tooth would not have root and was added.
Darktooth
Try taking pics with better lighting to eliminate the shadows. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.

Troodon
The tips of the roots are also my biggest concern the rest is fine. I would lean toward it being okay with your new photos

Auspex
It looks natural and original to me. Bone guy
That last pic of the root tip makes me think this is a good tooth. The bone pattern looks to intricate to be unnatural.
MeargleSchmeargl
Seems like a perfectly legit tooth. Really Biggun'! Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.

indominus rex
Looks fine to me. Nice tooth and normally they don't add composites to Megalodon teeth as they are not incredibly rare. Life started in the ocean. And so did my interest in fossils.

Indeed, that was my first impression, too. Would explain that UV is not showing anything odd... Difficult to tell...
jalcon
This case is closed. Turns out the guy who owns that ebay store chimed in on the facebook group post I made, and said he found that tooth and sold it to me. He was legit. Found it himself and owns a diving charter in wrightsville. Countless people on the meg facebook group vouched for him. Also, I did the hot needle test, this thing is solid. Thanks all. sixgill pete
Megs are extremely common and rarely faked. The tooth is a fairly decent example of the megs found out of Wrighstville. Water worn and often barnacle encrusted is the norm from there. Hope you didn't pay a great amount for the tooth. For a 6"+ tooth, I did not. What do you think it's worth?
