I explored a new creek spot on the North Sulphur River and had a good day with a nice variety. The Native American pottery and artifacts were a nice surprise at NSR.  I rode over to Post Oak Creek only to find my favorite spot posted so I explored a new spot for one hour and found a few nice teeth.

I think it's a shark tooth in matrix.

D'oh! On edge...
Now I see it.

I thought it might have been a piece of fish jaw or something.

Looks like you found some real goodies out there!  I especially like that big, greenish-hued pearl and the lamb with all the fur and soft tissues preserved! :D

Are the hog skulls fossilized? I know that a pleistocene deposit overlays the Cretaceous one there. If so, did you take them?

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.

Enjoyed the pics and it is fun when a "new' area produces some interesting finds.  The pottery is really cool.  I have always been amazed how something like that can survive in any size after bouncing down the river/creek for some time.  Probably came from one of the adjoining fields near NSR and may not have been in the creek that long?  I have never been to Post Oak Creek but I grew up in Bells which is only 10 miles east of Sherman.  I found shark teeth on our farm when I was growing up and that is how I got the fossil hunting bug.  I need to try it sometime, heard that you can access off of Travis Street?
