Hi

I am new to the world of fossils , I bought a fossil from a gift store , labeled 'Russian Ammonite'. I asked for more details from the store rep, but I did not get anything other than it was a russian ammonite. I am interested to know what kind of ammonite this is? My guess is that this is stephanoceras . Looking forward to hear from forum members on what they think ?

Thank you!

Priya

I agree with CadocerasStephanoceras is quite different, as it is flatter so the unbilicus is more shallow, it lacks umbilical nodes, it is much more evolute (you can easily see the early whorls enveloped in the later whorls, and it has well defined bifurcating ribs.
